Meet Your Celebrant

Hi! I'm Sandie and the face of The Wirral Celebrant.  I am originally from Liverpool, but have spent most of my life growing up on the beautiful Wirral peninsula.

I love many things: my family and friends (obviously!); my loveable Cerberus of cockapoos; chocolate; the colour purple; the moon; Spring and Autumn; crafting & creating; pottery, and anything to do with spirituality. I also love hearing people's interesting stories and can't wait to turn your story into an unforgettable ceremony.

I enjoy nothing more than spending time with my family while we explore the local area and beyond.  I love to feel the sand from the local beach between my toes, while my crazy cockapoos chase birds they have no hope of catching.

I relish in meeting new people, making new friends and being sociable.  My mum says I've always been a chatterbox, stopping the neighbours as they passed by our garden gate, and not much has changed, so I thought I could put my chatty nature to good use to craft beautiful ceremonies and help people make lasting memories.

I am often told that I have a familiar face and people say I make them feel comfortable enough to open up and tell me their life story. I'd love to hear yours so we can build the ceremony of your dreams. Your story. Your way.

I have loved the TV show Friends for as long as I can remember - I still watch it most days, much to the annoyance of my family!

I love the episode where Joey volunteers to marry Chandler and Monica and I have watched it too many times to remember!

My husband's brother and long-term partner wanted to get married, but didn't want a run-of-the-mill wedding in a church or with a registrar.  So, over a few drinks at a family party I volunteered to be their Joey and that's how the idea of becoming a celebrant came to me!

I was a teacher for nearly 20 years, so I am used to public speaking and dealing with unruly customers! :-)

When it came to training to become a celebrant, I did a lot of research.  I am a great believer in fate and I believe I found the trainer who was best suited to me and my needs. It just so happened that she was the President of the Association of Independent Celebrants, and spiritual to boot, so I knew I was in good hands.  I definitely feel as though the stars aligned that day and following my training and exams, I was overjoyed to find I had passed with distinction in all areas!

I always set time aside to improve my craft and am constantly researching the symbolic elements and other rituals or readings that can be included into your special day.

This is part of my story and I hope you've got a brief insight into who I am.  I look forward to getting to know you and your story to enable me to create your dream celebration.

Let’s work together and see what spectacular ceremony we can create together, for you.

Your story. Your way.
